How many kitties is too many?

By Jaime Cross

We wanted cats, to keep the snakes away. Our friend James brought us 4 kittens, all female, who became Geisha, Leah, Fluffy & Ninja. Fluffy & Ninja both got hit by cars. James brought us 2 more females who became Alice & Bella. The day before Valentines day, Geisha & Leah were, for want of a better word, accosted by a tom cat.

I was in the barn earlier getting feed for the ducks when I heard a mewling. I found Geisha in one of the cubicles of one of Will’s work benches with a litter of kitties. One was stillborn & one got smothered, so only 4 of the 6 survived. I brought them into the house.

Later on we were out in the barn while Will was finishing up his whizbang chicken plucker clone when I heard another lil meow. We thought maybe Geisha dropped one of her litter somewhere & began to search the far side of the barn. Lo & behold, in a box there sat Leah & her litter of 4 kitties. These are a few days older than Geisha’s, as they are bigger & moving around more. We now have 4 grown cats & 8 kittens, with maybe more on the way because Bella & Alice look like they were accosted later on as well. We have also been offered the 5 kittens the next door neighbors cat had awhile back, who look just like our kittens. Same daddy, what a player!
