The Swingset
We recently decided to purchase a swingset to convince our kids to try outside play instead of video games. We found one for a reasonable price, but it was out of stock in store so I ordered it online. Six hundred dollars & 3 weeks later, it arrived. I had read the reviews prior to purchase & many had said it took 12 hours to put together. After seeing the 2 not very large boxes it arrived in, I thought “How bad can it be?”. We soon found out!
It sat in our front yard for 3 days before we ventured out to attack it. Upon opening the boxes we found lots of unmarked pieces. In fact, none of the pieces were marked! Oh boy! This was going to be fun! Wood panels, wood slats, nuts, bolts, screws. The only recognizable pieces were the swings & slide. Just what had we gotten ourselves into?
We started putting it togther at 11am. I tried to sort the wooden pieces as best I could by size. Then I just stayed out of the way mostly, while my husband read the instructions & tried to follow them. Six hours later, with only a few pieces to go, we called it a day. My husband got up at 8am the next day & finished putting it together, which only took another hour and a half. While it did not take the 12 hours I read about in the reviews, we did need an entire day to devote to putting it together. It was well worth the time & money, it has kept the kids out of the house mostly. I even suggested purchasing another to expand the current one. All that got me was a few rude words & a dirty look.
