Garden of the Gods
Ok, maybe not of the gods, but close! I started planting today & only got half finished. I thought I’d breeze right through. I didn’t realize what a chore it would be, especially considering how big our garden is. We do have 9 mouths in this household, more at times, so we figured-the bigger the better.
Today I planted 3 rows of potatoes, a row of onions, a row of lettuce, a row of cucumbers & 2 rows of peas. Tomorrow I will plant the tomatoes & watermelon. I plan to plant my cabbage plants as soon as the garden is fenced, as we get all kinds of critters on our back acreage.
I also plan to add squash, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, asparagus, cantaloupe & strawberries. I may add more things as they come to mind. I want to grow a bit of okra, but not too much. I consider it an acquired taste & I believe me & my oldest son are the only ones in this house who will eat it.
So, the garden is almost fully planted. Now we will just see if anything grows! Wish me luck, I am really going to need it

That’s quite a garden Jaime!
I was reading everything you planted “rows” of and saw aparagus.
my goodness… y’all must LOVE asparagus.

surprisingly, all the kids do cept Madison, and shes picky about everything. How are ya dave, nice to see you here. Been laughing at WPW in some of your responses there.
Once mature (3 years) you should get about 20 spears per crown. My bed is small about 4×6 foot. It’s getting close to 15 yrs old so it’s time to replant. But I was picking it 2-3 times a day.
I can’t get to my garden yet. Ducks still swimming back there.
Doing okay. Yeah, WPW has been a bit… odd of late.

oh… I do have a suggestion for you to consider.
It looks like, from the pics, you have a lot of clay in your garden soil.
Don’t know when you till but consider getting a load of mushroom compost before you do. Spread it out across the plot then till. Makes a big difference.

Thanks Dave,
I’ll look at that next season if the chicken poop compost we used this year doesn’t work as well as we hope. So far tho, everything is sprouting fine that shes planted to date.
I’ve actually been able to get to my garden… finally. Won’t get in very much since there’s just not time but will get in some… starting today. Hopefully will get everything in and be able to get the newspaper and mulch down this weekend. Then get the tomato cages up and anchored.
FYI… Not sure the cost there Will but I just picked up some really nice mushroom compost for $21.95 a yard.
