Pig Mansion
Over the summer our two hogs, Stumpy & Ham, tore their whole house down. Granted, it was a not very well built house, some 2×4s & plywood. The weather is starting to get cooler here so we decided we better get a new house up. We did it right this time.
First off, we did not build it in their pen like the 1st one. The first one took up a lot of room in the pen. We built this one on the outside & stapled the hog panels to it. We laid lumber for the floor, then put up a frame & nailed more lumber to it. To prevent the hogs from ramming it from the inside & knocking their way out into the free world, we ran 2×4 braces along the inside bottom.
After building it & shingling the roof, it got painted barn red & white-like the other outbuildings on our property. I decided it would be ok for Ian & Tom to help with the painting. Tom ended up with just as much red paint on him as the house did. Thankfully, it was water based. Now the house is complete. Thanks to Will, Bobby, Cris, Tom & Ian the hogs are in hog heaven now!

nice pig house!
hope y’all are well
Jamie, I enjoy going onto your site daily to see what is happening at the farm. I feel somewhat connected that way. Bill’s aunt Joan also views the site regularly but felt the posting about the slaughter house was a bit graffic. She is a city girl through and through. As always I have been in workaholic mode. I have craft shows straight through til the second week in December. I don’t think I will do that again next year. More work than even I want to do at my age. Hope your holidays are good.
Hi Barbara
Thanks! I try to post often, but during the winter months it is hard to do. We have had a mild spring so far this year. Weather has been between the 70s & 80s all month. LOL about Joan. You know, my aunt is the same way. She came to visit the summer before last & informed me before she got here that she would not eat anything we killed or the eggs our chickens had laid. Makes you wonder where they think the food in the grocery stores come from
Good luck with your craft shows. I am getting back into cross stitching & I am thinking about taking up knitting or crocheting as well.
Thanks, Jel. We are doing great. I hope you are as well.
Great pig home. They should be paying rent in such a nice place as that!
Hi Garth, Yep agreed. They even have a 300 gallon swimming pool in there
